ABOUT ME

A homeschooled middle child who played King’s Quest V when she wasn't touring California bars as part of her all-sister rock band.

Beth Elderkin is an engaging and skilled multimedia professional who’s proud to be weird, nerdy, and unique.

Beth currently serves as content marketing manager for the Game Developers Conference (GDC). She runs GDC's blogs and social media presence across multiple platforms—including launching GDC's first TikTok account, already boasting over 1M views. She serves as Project Lead for GDC's annual State of the Game Industry report, which surveys thousands of game developers on topics critical to their industry. Her knowledge and passion for the video games industry gives her a unique perspective in engaging with developers and players alike.

Previously, she was a video editor and staff writer for io9, helping to create and grow io9's video presence while also specializing in tabletop games, reviews, social issues, and representation in media. Beth also hosted Geek Bait, a semi-weekly show on TouchVision. Other bylines include: Inverse, Gamesradar+, Upload VR, Daily Dot, UPROXX, Kotaku, and other publications.

At her first newspaper job, her Kerrville State Hospital privatization series received six awards, including Honorable Mention for STAR Investigative Report of the Year, and First Place awards for Community Service Journalism with Texas Press Association and Special Coverage with West Texas Press Association.

She spent a decade of her youth as lead singer and guitarist of the all-sister rock band Third Eclipse. She's classically trained as a mezzo-soprano and played characters ranging from an 18-century French lawyer to 'RENT’s' Maureen. She loves playing video games and GMing tabletop roleplaying games, and looks forward to the day when her 2-year-old son wants to try Dungeons & Dragons.
